A Fall Engagement Session in the Aspens | Colorado Wedding Photographer
There is something so magical about the Colorado mountains in late September and early October. The air is crisp with the very hint of winter approaching and the aspens erupt in one last hooray in yellows, oranges, and even reds. It’s my favorite time to explore and also my favorite time to photograph couples. Give me a fall engagement session in an aspen tree forest any day and I’m a happy photographer. And if I get to photograph a couple as sweet and joyful as these two, I’m on cloud nine.

L + G wanted golden aspens during their engagement session and I think we delivered on that. I won’t lie, it can be a little stressful each year trying to figure out exactly when a specific aspen grove will hit peak color but after 10 years living in Colorado, I feel like I can make a good guess in most cases. It definitely helps to have flexibility though if you’re looking to plan an epic fall engagement session in the Colorado mountains. You never know what the weather will do.
In a fit of serendipity, these two suggested a specific location the very DAY I was researching it for my own leisure and enjoyment. I was so excited when I received their email suggesting this spot for their photos. One of my favorite aspects of this job is “scouting” a location beforehand, simply to see what I’ll be working with, how the light will behave, etc. It’s definitely not a burden to get myself to a beautiful place like this on a random weekday to explore (almost always with my pup in tow). I simply want to ensure I have a good handle on a location before going somewhere with a couple.
Colorado has no shortage of beautiful locations for engagement photos. I’m always up for photographing somewhere new.
