A Western Colorado Anniversary Session | Crested Butte and Gunnison, Colorado

When E + J told me they’d be visiting Colorado for the first time, I knew portraits of these two in this grand landscape were necessary. These lovers are adventurers at heart. What better place for an anniversary session (four years married!) than these iconic Western Colorado adventure spots: Crested Butte and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park.

It was the perfect time to be in Crested Butte. The ridiculous amounts of snow Colorado’s mountains had received in the spring (and into the early summer) had produced a stunning array of wildflowers blooming unapologetically in the lower regions of town. We couldn’t keep ourselves from exclaiming in delight every 15 feet as we spotted more and more lupine carpeting the trails. And as always, the Black Canyon did not disappoint with its breathtaking views and jaw-dropping heights. These two locations were a perfect combo for a memorable time in Colorado.
