A Denver City Elopement | Colorado Wedding Photographer

So you’re engaged and you don’t want a big, traditional wedding? Eloping might be just the thing for you and your partner! These days, especially in Colorado, it’s easy to think of a grand, mountain adventure when you hear the word “elopement”. But you can and absolutely should elope in a city if that’s more your style. And one of the best things about a Colorado elopement is that you don’t even have to go the more traditional route of going to the courthouse if you don’t want to! As long as you pick up your marriage license in advance, you and our partner can sign it wherever, whenever, and without a witness or officiant of any kind present.

How to plan a Denver Elopement

The sky’s the limit with a Denver city elopement. Is it just you and your partner? Do you want to go to a courthouse or would you like to go wherever you please? Think of places that are near and dear to your relationship. Do you have a park you and yours frequent? You could find a lovely spot tucked away in any of the beautiful Denver parks (Washington Park, City Park, Cheesman Park, etc.).

Maybe there’s a cocktail bar you love. Say your vows in the park and walk together to the bar for a celebratory drink. Get that special dinner reservation on the books. Wander the city and stop for some ice cream (I know the best ice cream shops!). You can truly do whatever your heart desires for your Denver elopement. And as a Denver elopement photographer, I’m always happy to help couples plan their special day to their liking.

This lovely February day saw these two exchanging vows and rings and promising their lives to one another. It was so special to capture. I heard from K a couple months before the date. They knew they wanted to elope in Denver, where they live, and they knew they wanted it to be fun and laid back and still so special. We tossed ideas back and forth and landed on this sweet Saturday afternoon itinerary:

  • Vows and marriage license signing outside the Byron White Courthouse, a stunning architectural spot downtown

  • Drinks and photobooth fun at Ratio Beerworks—their first date location!!—in the fun RiNo area

  • Putzing around RiNo and taking photos as the sun sets

  • Pizza at the Redeemer alley pizza window to round out the evening

This day was so unique to these two, with a visit to their first date venue and enjoying some delicious pizza together (K is pretty famous in the wedding industry, you might recognize her from the amazing Mountain Crust Pizza). Your elopement can truly be whatever you’d like it to be! Take it from these two and their glorious day. And get in touch if you’d like to start planning your unique Denver elopement.
